Jane du Rand works as a ceramic and mosaic artist from her studio in Brisbane, Australia. She takes on commissions for private clients as well as commercial and public artwork projects.

Prior to moving to Brisbane in 2014 Jane ran a large and busy studio in Durban for 15 years completing a very large number of projects with work installed in many locations all over Southern Africa, the Netherlands, France, Chile, United Kingdom (Guernsey) and the USA (New York).

Jane has a great deal of experience in facilitating community art projects which involve the participation and training of community members from diverse and often severely disadvantaged backgrounds.

As a student Jane studied at the University of Natal (now KwaZulu Natal) in Durban obtaining a Bachelor of Architecture Cum Laude in 1992 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture in 1994.

September 2008 - Solo exhibition at the artSpace Durban Gallery: Loathing and Loving and Giving.

Competition:

In 2003 Jane won a public art competition at the new Constitutional Court building in Johannesburg with a proposal to clad 18 foyer columns with ceramics and mosaics.

Jane was also nominated as a finalist for the Mercedes Benz Award for South African Art Projects in Public Spaces in 2009.
