A$1,500.00

November 8,9,10,11

Location: North Shore Studios

DAY 1: 10am-5pm

We will start looking at the design of our disks, examples of birds ( i will have a selection of taxidermy specimens) and I will demonstrate making the sculptural bird forms and relevant flora / foliage in your designs. We will spend the day making all the ceramic pieces for the work.

DAY 2: 10am - 5:pm

While our pieces get bisque fired we will tackle the mosaic part of the piece. Using glass mosaics and smalti I will show you how to incorporate mosaic into the work. We will spend the day making the mosaic elements.

Day 3: 10am - 5pm

Our ceramic pieces will be bisque fired and so we will look at glazing, under-glazing and colour choices. I will demonstrate the way I like to use under-glazes, glazes, oxides and stains. We will glaze all our pieces and put them in the kiln for the glaze firing. We will spend the rest of the day finishing the mosaics. (Mosaics take time!)

Day 4: 10am - 3pm

Today we will grout the mosaic sections of the work and assemble all the ceramic pieces onto the disks.

Lunch, morning tea and afternoon drinks will be provided daily.

All materials and tools will be provided, however if you have any specific tools you like to use please feel free to bring them along.
